"ORMTA Competitions provide experience for young artists to reach their fullest potential. As students challenge themselves, artistically and technically, to perform at their very best level, they also receive feedback from the jurors and are exposed to the repertoire and performance styles of their competitors."
Every year, ORMTA showcases some of the most talented advanced instrumental and vocal music students from across Ontario in this prestigious competition. Students of ORMTA members first compete locally at the branch level. A local branch winner then qualifies to compete at their regional zone competition. Winners of each zone competition across Ontario then earn the right to advance to this provincial competition*. Students are expected to perform a stylistically balanced programme of two or more pieces within the 20-minute time limit at a Grade 10 and/or Associate level. Each student receives a written critique from a panel of distinguished adjudicators.
*Ottawa Branch is a region so, unlike in other branches, Ottawa Competition award winners move directly on to the Provincial Competitions.
