The ORMTA Ottawa Region Branch, the largest in Ontario, is a vibrant group of independent music teachers who share a love of teaching and a desire to provide a quality learning experience for every student.
The Ontario Registered Music Teachers' Association is an association of professional music teachers, recognized by the Province of Ontario, who are dedicated to promoting excellence in music education, nurturing appreciation of the art, and inspiring mutual support among the members.
We are a not-for-profit organization managed by a volunteer council with 1,100+ Registered Music Teachers and related members across Ontario.

“ORMTA is turning 90 in 2026!
In celebration, we are pleased to announce a Cover Art Contest for Notes Magazine. Students of ORMTA teachers are welcome to submit artwork on the theme of “Music in Canada.” There will be one winner in each of the three age groups and each winner’s piece will be featured on the cover of a Notes Magazine issue in 2025-2026.”

“The CFMTA/FCAPM Essay Competition invites submissions of essays on any topic related to music teaching, pedagogy or performance practice. This competition is open to all Canadian residents currently studying at the high school, undergraduate, masters and doctoral university graduate levels. There is no fee to enter.”
