The emphasis of this presentation would be the integration of composition techniques found in specific piano pieces. Not trying to give formula for composing, but rather carefully examining how different 20th Century theoretical techniques have been applied to create good music. This comes from the firm belief that composition should begin in the imagination within, but analysis of good music can stimulate the process.
The presentation could be useful for teachers wanting to encourage students to compose as well as help provide a deeper understanding of new repertoire to students.
Most of the material in this presentation can be found in current RCM Piano Repertoire, Etude and Theory texts.
The session will take place online on Zoom. To register please contact Hoda Nassim (email@example.com) by September 20th.
"ORMTA Ottawa Region Branch hosts Information Sharing Sessions throughout the year for both our member teachers. Our goal is to provide a welcoming atmosphere for teachers to hone their skills, ask questions, and meet other teachers. Within this environment we hope that teachers are refreshed and come away learning more about their craft and finding support within the music teaching community. Please join us at an Information Sharing Session!"
